At the virtual Game Devs of Color Expo, new and experienced game developers will share, learn, and connect in unique ways. This year’s event will feature main presentations within a private online conference space that supports conversations between attendees. We will also host developer interviews, playable demos, and game discounts through our Steam showcase, Gradient Convergence. You’ll be able to support creators of color by playing their games in the comfort of your home!

Speakers at this year’s event will cover a wide variety of topics including game art, compelling game design, marketing, and sound design. See the full list of speakers here.

Games at this year’s expo include ValiDate: Struggling Singles in your Area by Veritable Joy, Lucifer Within Us by Kitfox Games, An Airport for Aliens Currently Run by Dogs from Strange Scaffold, and Onsen Master by Waking Oni Games. See the full list of games here.

The event closes with the Game Devs of Color Expo award ceremony, where a total of $90,000 in development grants will be awarded.

Five developers will each win the $15,000 No More Robots x Game Devs of Color Expo Grant, which will include guidance and mentoring in game development.

One developer will win the $15,000 Humble Bundle Game Creators of Color Award, which includes a publishing and distribution deal.

Find out who the 6 deserving developers are after the end of the Developer Interviews on September 20th!

What others are saying

“It’s an event focused on inclusivity that goes beyond just talking about it: Game Devs of Color makes the changes it wishes to see.” — Polygon

“Through the expo, indie developers can share resources and make connections in an easier environment, whereas more “mainstream” expos … may exclude indie developers on the margins [whether] directly or indirectly.” —

“From the outset, it looks like a typical niche game industry conference, but as the day unfolded, it became a lot more than that.” —

“The expo had a number of highlights, but what continually impressed me was the programming, and how accessible it was to folks with hearing disabilities or those who couldn’t attend the show itself.” — Motherboard

Don’t miss out on the most important conversations of the year!
