New Phishing Alert

We have become aware of another phishing scam targeting students at the University of Washington.

The email message will appear to come from a “wayne.edu” email address, with a variety of subject lines, one being “UW Campus Update.” The content of the emails may vary, and the names of individuals who claim to be hiring include Dr. Paul Brown, Mrs. Katie Whelan, and Mrs. Kelley Hutchins.

This is NOT a legitimate email or opportunity and is an attempt to gain access to sensitive information  – if you receive this email, please:

  • Do not click on any links or take any action as requested in the message.
  • Send the message (as an attachment) to reportedspam@cac.washington.edu.
  • Delete the email.
  • If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate email us at handshake@uw.edu.

More broadly, do you ever find yourself wondering if a position is legitimate, or perhaps too good to be true? We have some great tips to help you assess, and we’re also always certainly happy to help! When in doubt, trust your gut and send us an email!

Happy job and internship searching, Huskies!
