Creating an Online Portfolio to Showcase Your Best Work: Feb. 4 @ 2:30pm | MGH 134

While LinkedIn provides an organized, standardized online platform with which to represent yourself professionally, perhaps your body of work is more visual in nature and cannot be fully displayed there. In that case, regardless of your major, but especially if you are in a performance or visual arts-based major (such as Interdisciplinary Visual Art, Ethnomusicology, Design, or Music Education), you may want to create a personalized website to showcase the best of your work: Try using Wix or Weebly!

Next Tuesday afternoon (February 4), come to the Career and Internship Center and join Wix staff to learn more about creating your online portfolio website. They will cover how to plan a website, how to use the Wix platform, and explore professional design features. Bring your laptop to discover the basics in creating a Wix website as well as features to take your portfolio to the next level. And… a one-year FREE Wix premium plan to all attendees!

Benefits of Using Wix or Weebly:

  1. Storing your work in one place: Creating an online portfolio using Wix or Weebly allows you to have a direct link to all of your work, that you can include on your resume, right below your name. A recruiter or hiring manager can then visit your direct page to view all your work in one place. There is no limit to how many images, documents, presentations, etc. you can store on your site.
  2. Wix and Weebly allow you to structure your page however you would like: Unlike LinkedIn, which organizes your information into specific categories (employer, position title, education, skills, etc.) with Wix or Weebly, you decid which categories to organize your work into – where to feature photos, text, and your “about me” section is completely up to you.
  3. Wix and Weebly can be used by students of any major, to display any type of information: you can find some examples of Wix and Weebly e-portfolios created by students enrolled in the Husky Leadership program here.
