Getting Great Clinical Exposure

Thursday 1/29 3:00-3:30 pm, Career & Internship Center, Mary Gates Hall 134

Health professional Schools are looking for evidence that applicants understand the jobs they are applying for, and will be good at them. This workshop will explore how to get the kinds of professional- and patient-facing time that students need to confirm a good fit with their skills and interests.         

Applying to Health Professional School

Tuesday 2/25 3:30-4:00 pm (Virtual – ZOOM)

This workshop will provide an overview of the process for applying to health professional schools, from the primary application to the secondary application to the interview.

Pre-Health Course and Major Planning 

Tuesday, 2/11 11:00am – 12:00 pm, Mary Gates Hall 171

Co-hosted with UAA Advising, this workshop will explore how students can coordinate their coursework needed for their major with the pre-requisites needed for health professional schools.

Applying to Health Professional School as an International Student

Wednesday, February 12 3:00-4:00 pm in CIRCLE (250 Schmitz Hall)

International students face a number of additional obstacles when applying to UW Medical Schools. This workshop will explore ways to overcome these barriers when pursuing a career in medicine.

Health/Life Science Small Group Coaching

Wednesday 3/4  2:30-3:30 pm in Life Sciences Building 401

If you are interested in exploring careers in health or life sciences (or both!) this small group coaching session will offer personalized support from a career coach with the added benefit of learning from your peers! Participants will set the agenda, and topics we could discuss include how to demonstrate that a profession is the best fit with one’s skills & interests, as well as how to complement degree requirements with co-curricular experiences.

One of the most impactful ways to best prepare for medical school applications is by learning about the experiences of individuals who have been through the process themselves. This panel will feature multiple diverse perspectives on the medical school application process from current UWSOM students.
