Is learning to code necessary for artists and designers?

Many designers and artists end up learning coding skills in order to apply their work in the technology space. But is is really necessary for all artists and designers to learn to code? The lead designer of Facebook Live, Alex Cornell, shares his thoughts on this question in this article.

Through the article, you learn the reasons Cornell forewent learning to code and focused his time on learning film and photography instead. In this interview, he details how he decided to avoid the “heavily trod code path” in lieu of following his interests. In fact, when asked what skills students should focus on besides coding, Cornell suggests writing and presentation skills.
