COPE Health Solutions, a leader in health care management consulting, has a number of ways for current pre-health students to get involved, gain experience, and learn about the variety of health care paths available. See the 3 programs below to determine if any are a fit with you.
1. A pre-college program for international students takes place in partnership with UCLA during the winter. It is geared toward international students who are interested in pursuing a career in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, allied health, public health and health administration. During this one week course, students will be able to participate in lectures with UCLA professors, U.S. hospital tours, a simulation lab, CPR training and certification, and special guest lectures from experts in the field. The application deadline is October 2016. See the website for additional information.
2. A Spring Break program in Seattle with over 4,000 student participants at any given site. This is perfect for students interested in medicine, nursing, pre-PA, allied health, and health administration. Students will participate in online clinical training prior to the start of the program, clinical observations, specialty department tours and panels and workshops, as well as receive a certificate of completion from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. Full information about the COPE Health Scholars Spring Break program is available here.
3. A year-round Health Scholar program in which students can gain clinical hands-on experience in hospitals around the Seattle area. Details and application instructions for the quarterly applications can be found here.
