If this is the case, you may want to consider teaching English abroad!  By teaching overseas you get to travel, gain work experience, and deepen your cross-cultural understanding and communication skills.  You also get to take part in the collective endeavor of education with the knowledge that your work will facilitate the growth of others.  Whether you are seeking a career in education, or just want to gain some valuable international experience, teaching English abroad can enhance your skill set for an array of possible futures.

The UW Department of English has a range of options for certifications if you are a currently enrolled student.  Find out more here.  And for graduates or those who prefer to find positions more independently, visit Dave’s ESL Cafe for a whole host of options, including job boards from a multitude of countries.
